He was born in Sullivan County and resided in Kingsport most of his life. E. J. retired from Tennessee Eastman Company after 43 years and 3 months of service. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army and enjoyed fishing.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Ruby Elaine Steadman Snodgrass; and a son, Elmer Joseph "Butch" Snodgrass, Jr.
Surviving are a son, Joe Thomas Snodgrass and special friend Judy McLaughlin of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Cody Snodgrass and Elmer Joseph Snodgrass III; a long time friend and companion, Arcella Roberts; and a nephew, Gary Morelock of Rogersville, TN.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. J. W. Depew officiating.
