She was the youngest of four girls of Ernest A Bell and Catherine Josephine Smith. She graduated high school at 16 and attended the University of North Texas. She married Charlie E Huston and had a son and daughter whom she raised until 1978 when she went to work for Gorham Silver Company. After retiring, she began genealogy research and became a member of several lineage societies including Jamestowne Society, Colonial Dames XVII, DAR, First Families of Tennessee, USD of 1812 and Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was registrar for several of these organizations and helped many with lineage research.
