Sammy was born June 26, 1930, in Berrendo, NM, a small hamlet near Roswell, NM.
Sammy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Catalina and Manuel Frésquez, his sisters, Elfides Gallegos, Corine Gaona and Elia Slater and his brothers, Willie Frésquez, Leo Frésquez and Ernie Frésquez.
Sammy is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Váldez, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Having graduated from Albuquerque High School, Sammy served honorably in the United States Army as a Paratrooper during the Korean War from l951 until 1953.
Sammy discovered early in life an affinity for song and entertaining. His thundering lyric baritone and pitch-perfect voice entertained many during his lifetime. Sammy performed on the Las Vegas Strip, the Lawrence Welk television show and in 1966 produced a record album of love songs, "Love in The Sun," on the Highback record label under the stage name Paul Fresco.
As an accomplished tournament golfer, Sammy, along with his brother, Ernie, provided formidable competition for local golfers and visiting pro golfers alike, as attested by their many tournament trophies.
Sammy will be deeply missed by his loved ones and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral arrangements for Sammy are being handled by French- Wyoming location, Albuquerque, NM. The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice and Gentiva.
