Born Sept. 6, 1922, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Mattie Baird Whitis. She was a homemaker, school teacher and an active member of Hustonville Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas B. Cochran of Hustonville, to whom she was married for 61 years; two sons, Joseph L. (Beverly) Cochran of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and William T. (Holly) Cochran of Clermont, Fla.; two sisters, Alma (Jack) Canada of Hustonville and Jean Ann (Tommy) Case of Danville; and two grandchildren, Luke Cochran and Rachel (Jamie) Cochran Stokes, both of Knoxville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Ralph and Tommy Whitis. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hustonville Baptist Church by Bro. Jonathan Grizzell and Bro. Bill Julian. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Barry, Gary, Tim and Scott Whitis, Bob Canada and Chuck Stallard.
