At 7 o'clock Monday morning Otis Vandewalker, for forty years an honored and respected citizen of Camden, expired suddenly of heart failure, at his home on Wolcott Hill street, aged 77 years 10 months and 2 days. Altho a sufferer from heart trouble for the past ten years, he was in usual good health when he arose. He went to his barn and did the morning chores and when he returned to the house dropped dead on the piazza.

Mr. Vandewalker was born in the town of Western and was son of Jacob and Eunice Vandewalker, later of Osceola, where his father died a few years aged 90 years. When Mr. Vandewalker came to this locality he located in the Skinner settlement, and about 25 years ago removed to Camden. He was a faithful and devoted member of the M. E. church, and for many years a class leader in the church.

He was twice married. His first wife, whose maiden name was Hannah Schott, died about five years ago. A few years ago he was united in marriage to Mrs. Oastler of Western, who survives. Three children also mourn his death: Mrs. Edwin Sanders and Earl H. Vandewalker of Camden and Rev. Adelbert Vandewalker, who is preaching in Michigan. Three brothers also survive; George of Camden, Abraham of Osceola and John of the western part of this state.
