Mr. Vandewalker was born in the town of Western and was son of Jacob and Eunice Vandewalker, later of Osceola, where his father died a few years aged 90 years. When Mr. Vandewalker came to this locality he located in the Skinner settlement, and about 25 years ago removed to Camden. He was a faithful and devoted member of the M. E. church, and for many years a class leader in the church.
He was twice married. His first wife, whose maiden name was Hannah Schott, died about five years ago. A few years ago he was united in marriage to Mrs. Oastler of Western, who survives. Three children also mourn his death: Mrs. Edwin Sanders and Earl H. Vandewalker of Camden and Rev. Adelbert Vandewalker, who is preaching in Michigan. Three brothers also survive; George of Camden, Abraham of Osceola and John of the western part of this state.
