John Wesley Quenichet, 88, died quietly on Easter, March 23, 2008.

Funeral: 3 p.m. Thursday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

John was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Germantown (sic: Memphis), Tenn. He married his faithful wife of 68 years, Oburn, after graduation from high school in 1939. He developed a love for airplanes at the age of 8 and became a civilian flight instructor for the Army Air Corps in 1940. Afterward, he flew for Braniff Airways for 36 years. He attained the rank of captain on seven different airliners from the Douglas DC-3 to the Boeing 747. John was a talented man with many hobbies, including woodworking, metal working, horses, flying, ranching, farming, hunting, fishing and competitive sport-shooting. He was a longtime member of the NRA and the Dallas Gun Club.

John made a commitment to Jesus later in life and is now with the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and three sisters.

Survivors: Wife, Oburn; children, Wayne, Rick and Leslie; grandchildren, David, Rachel, Wesley and Suzanne; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members.
