Sonya Faye Bowers of King, NC, went to be with the Lord, June 4, 2023. She was born October 20, 1967, in Forsyth County to Deborrah Thompson Bowers and the late Allen Max Bowers. She attended South Stokes High School and was a graduate of Forsyth Technical Community College. Freedom Baptist Church was her home church. Sonya was a classy, kindhearted person with a heart of gold. She loved the Lord, her family, and friends. Her presence lit up any room she entered. People remember her for her kindness, sense of humor, and infectious laugh. Sonya enjoyed spending time at the beach and by the lake where she would jump at any chance to go fishing.
Sonya will be missed by all those that she left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Tuff Alexander Johnson. She is survived by her mother; three children, Brandon Lawson, Brooke Ingram (Stan), Ashleigh Myers, and her precious dog, Bentley; three grandchildren, Reece Lawson, Annabelle Johnson, and Sadie Johnson; twin sister, Tonya Joyce (Terry); one brother, Mark Bowers (Sherri); four nephews, Blake Bowers, Chase Joyce, Jonathan Joyce, Nathan Joyce, and Cole Price; two nieces, Sommer Joyce and Hollie Bowers. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Jon White officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 12:00 noon at the church.
