Chief Petty Officer Ralph A. Judd, USN (Retired), 89, of Speedway, died peacefully Friday June 2, 2023, at WVU Princeton Community Hospital. Born July 15, 1933, in Granby, Missouri, he was the son of the late George Oliver Judd and Cora Elizabeth Judd. Ralph served his country honorably in the Navy for 20 Years. After his retirement from the military, he worked for Sun Valley Elementary School as a custodian. He loved the children there and they loved him. He assisted with showing kids how to tie shoes properly and making sure they were bundled up before going out in the cold. He was a faithful member of Painters Chapel Methodist Church while his health permitted. Ralph read the Bible from front to back more times than his family can count. He was a family man first and foremost, but in his spare time he enjoyed being a master gunsmith and fine woodworker. He took great joy being the hummingbirds' best friend, making sure they were fed daily. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 67 years, Wilma Judd, children Pamela Mills and husband Kenny, and Steve Judd and wife Cinnie. Grandchildren: Brandon Emery and wife Chelsea, Shirley Turner and husband Kris, Kenny Mills and wife Erika. Great-grandchildren Maverick, Scarlett and Pierson. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Randy Sargent and Butch Damewood officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with full military honors given by the United States Navy. Friends may visit with the family from 11 A.M until the service hour at the funeral home. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com. The Judd family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
