It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Clair J. Shaw, a loyal, dedicated, adventurous, and resilient soul, who left this world on June 2, 2023. Born on June 27, 1931, in Ogden, Utah, Clair spent his 91 years living a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. A true pillar of the community, Clair's unwavering spirit and dedication to his family, friends, and work will forever be remembered and cherished.

He attended Valley School, Weber High School and Weber College where he pursued his passion for automotive technology and minored in business.

Clair was a man who wore many hats throughout his lifetime. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Jacqueline, whom he married on June 5, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a loving father to his five children, Mitchell, Stephanie, Kelly, Julie, and Becky. Clair served his country with honor for two years in the Army's 45th Infantry, achieving the rank of Sergeant and receiving the Bronze Star for bravery. He had a fulfilling 26-year career with the Weber County Fire Department. Starting as a firefighter in 1957, Clair quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a Lieutenant in 1968 and ultimately being appointed Fire Chief in 1971. He was a proud rancher/farmer for 46 years and enjoyed raising cattle.

In his free time, Clair was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, with hobbies that included hunting, farming, dancing, skiing, basketball, and baseball. His adventurous spirit and love for life were contagious, inspiring those around him to live their lives to the fullest and never shy away from a new experience. His resilience and dedication were not only evident in his work but also in the way he approached his hobbies and interests.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Shaw; mother, Elizabeth Lindsey Shaw; beloved wife, Jacqueline Shaw, son MItchell Clair Shaw, daughter Stephanie Leo, son-in-law Troy Lincoln and brothers Don Carlos Shaw and Eddy L. Shaw.
