Mary Allen Herbert, 82, of the 600 block of Bethune Drive, passed away March 22, 2008. Born in Buena Vista, Va., to the late William and Lillian Davis, Mrs. Herbert was a store manager for 7 Eleven Convenience Stores and also had been a telephone operator and had worked in retail at Catherine's Dress Shop. She was a member of London Bridge Baptist Church. Mary was the widow of Edwin Joseph Herbert and is survived by a stepson, Steven Herbert of Roanoke, Va.; two stepdaughters, Linda Herbert White of Roanoke, Va. and Diane Herbert Day of Greenville, N.C.; two half sisters, Linda Maciak and Brenda Korwin; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a godson, Nathan Petras. She was predeceased by a son, Gerald Wayne Smith and a sister, Dorothy Allison. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at London Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Armbrister. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to London Bridge Baptist Church, Galatians 2:6 Fund, 2460 Potters Road, Virginia Beach, VA, 23454.
