Helen Ovelene Chapman Norman, 80 of Freeburn, KY passed away on Sunday June 4, 2023, at the Pikeville Medical Center. Helen was born on December 23, 1942, in Freeburn, KY, the daughter of the late Elijah Chapman and Rebecca Mounts Chapman. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy and Ervin Chapman; her sisters, Delores Frazier, Mildred Chapman, Madilene Dotson, Gertrude Scott and an infant sibling, Baby Chapman. Helen was a retired schoolteacher and beautician, as well as a member of the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church. 

Survivors include her husband, Paul Glen Norman of Freeburn, KY; Sylvia Lynn Ferrell Farley of Cattlesburg, KY who she raised as her daughter; her sister, Betty (Steve) Mounts of Phelps, KY, Jay Norman, whom she helped raise, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, beginning at 11 AM at the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church, with Benny Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, WV, with Helen's family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at the church from 6-9 PM, with special service at 7 PM. R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY is serving the Norman family.
