OBITUARY
Died in Bolivar, June 28, 1886, Mrs. Joseph Holmes aged 54 yrs 1 mo and 3 days. The deceased was a consistent member of the M.E. Church for a number of years. She was a dutiful wife and affectionate mother, and was faithful in the discharge of every duty to her family, her neighbors, and her God. Her energetic, exemplary life will not be lost upon the world and her memory will be cherished by those who knew her. Though gone she is not lost for she had the immortal life within, and she hoped and trusted in Christ as her Savior and Her Friend. To such a person, death is but going:
Out of the shadow of sadness,
Into the sunshine of gladness,
Into the light of the blest.
Out of the land very dreary,
Out of the world of the weary,
Into the rapture of rest.
