Wayne was born November 10, 1938 near Klondike (Pound), Wisconsin, the son of Walter Ray and Ardne M. (Schroeder) Salefsky. He was raised and educated in the Pound area. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1955 at the age of 17 years and served from 1955 to 1959 in Japan, the Azores Islands, and Lake Charles Louisiana. He was awarded the Solder's Medal for Heroism for his actions at Chennault Air Force Base in Louisiana on November 26, 1958.
Following his time in in the Air Force, Wayne was employed for a time as a steamfitter in Milwaukee, and then started his well drilling business, Town and Country Well Drilling, L.L.C. of Berlin, Wisconsin. Wayne's son, Scott worked with his dad, and now continues the business that his dad, Wayne started.
Wayne married Joan Veronica Erdmann August 6, 2005 in Berlin. Joan survives.
In his earlier years, Wayne enjoyed bowling and deer hunting, and was a member of Berlin Masonic Lodge #38, F. & A.M.
Survivors include his wife Joan, his son, Scott Salefsky of Berlin; step-children, Ronald (Karen) Taylor of Appleton, Donald (Judy) Taylor of Redgranite, Louis (Annette) Taylor of Wild Rose, and Leeray (special friend Kathy) Taylor of Fremont; 2 sisters, Cheryl (Paul) Olsen of Wautoma, and Verla Mrotek of Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Ardis Butler.
SERVICES: Funeral Services for Wayne Walter Salefsky will be held Wednesday, June 7th. at 11:00 A.M. at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite. Rev. Mike Thomas will officiate. Full Military Honors will follow at the funeral home.
VISITATION: Relatives and friends may call at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. only prior to the time of Services,
BURIAL: Wayne will be laid to rest on the family plot in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Pound, Wisconsin at 1:00 P.M. Thursday. Those attending the burial service should meet directly at the cemetery.
