Mrs. Mary A. Pletcher
Mrs. Mary Annie Pletcher, 97, Howard's oldest resident, died at her home at noon Thursday. She had been ill for eight weeks. Mrs. Pletcher was born at Howard May 23, 1849, a daughter and only (sic) child of Joseph and Sarah Schenck Hall. Her husband, Theophilus Pletcher, preceded her in death. They were married November 28, 1878, at Mt. Eagle. One daughter, Mrs. Tacy Smith, of Howard, survives. She was a member of the Howard Methodist Church and the last charter member of the Howard Grange. Funeral services were held at the church Sunday with Rev. F.L. Pannebaker officiating. Burial was made in Schenck's cemetery.
