Sherwin G Buchanan, age 82, of NC 80 Bakersville, NC, passed away December 14, 2005.
He was the son of the late Stokes and Pearl Silver Buchanan, and a native of Mitchell County, NC.
Mr. Buchanan was a veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from Blythe Brothers Construction in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Buchanan was a member and trustee of Silver Chapel Baptist Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #12 of Latham, Ga. Mr. Buchanan enjoyed making laurel furniture and other wooden crafts.
Survivors include; wife, Elberta Burleson Buchanan, of the home, daughters, Jeanette Chang, of Bakersville, NC, Loretta Revis, of Waynesville, NC, and Norma Helms, of Spruce Pine, NC, one sister, Elberta Wing, of Burnsville, NC, two brothers, Stuart Buchanan, of Burnsville, NC, and Lowell Buchanan, of Bakersville, NC, five grandchildren, Stephanie Chang Troutman, Jennifer Chang, Rachel Revis, Brian Helms, and Lauren Helms.
Mr. Buchanan was preceded in death by; one brother, John Buchanan.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 18, from 5PM until 7PM, at Henline - Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 19 at 2PM, in Silver
Chapel Baptist Church, with Mark McKinney, Jonathan Thacker, and Howard Buchanan officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by Bakersville Masonic Lodge #357 AF&AM, at the church cemetery.
