Martha Morton was a native of Montgomery County, Iowa, and a daughter of one of the pioneers of that state, Silas Morton, a miller bv trade and the founder of the town of Morton Mills, which was named for him.
The eight known children born of her union with Albert "Bert" Pearson Simpson, are by name: Bernice Ruth, the wife of Stanley Hopkins; Cloyd J., Jr.; Mrs. Ethel Johnson; Beuhla,wife of Floyd Knox; Marten; Merle; Mildred Evelyn and Morton Glenn .
