Emma A. White was the daughter of Crowell W. White and Elizabeth Anthony. She was born in Lone Pine, near Almond, Wisconsin, where her parents were pioneer residents. When Emma was ten years old her family moved to nearby Wisconsin Rapids, where her parents operated first a meat market, and then a general merchandise store, for nine years. Then they returned to Lone Pine where her family built and operated a store for three years before buying a farm there. Emma lived the remainder of her life on the Lone Pine farm. In one obituary her name is incorrectly given as 'Emily,' rather than 'Emma.'
