Richard Whitehead
August 13, 1964 - May 24, 2023

Richard Frederic Whitehead passed away in his home May 24, 2023, from complications of cardiac arrest. Richard was born to Josiah Samuel Whitehead and Marilyn Lindsay on August 13, 1964, in Stockton, California.

Richard was born 3 months early. He struggled from the beginning and overcame challenges early in his life. Richard was quite accident prone; it seems he was always recovering from an injury or two. In his teen years he was a huge support to his mother who was a single mom. It was important to him to help her anyway he could. John Fobert was his closest childhood friend, they did almost everything together. The Foberts became Richard's second family, and they accepted him as their own.

He graduated from Woodburn High school in Woodburn, Oregon. After high school he spent some time in Alaska working for his brother David. He enjoyed working with his brother and learned the skills of carpentry from him.

He married Dorothy Zohner March 18, 2000, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Their son, Dallin Richard was born in 2001. Richard had three children from a previous marriage; Jourdan Danielle, Zachary Cole, and Jacob Joseph.

Richard enjoyed being outdoors and spent time boating, snowmobiling, fishing, camping, and more. Richard was very creative, and he had a natural talent for drawing. He loved learning new things, and he gained a lot of knowledge and talents over his lifetime. Refinishing bathrooms, constructing homes, chroming cars, even interior design. His flower arrangements were as good as a professional. He had a talent for cooking and loved to pull together fun dinner parties to share his cooking with family and friends. He loved to laugh, reminisce, and play table games. He was always making new friends and looking for ways to help others.

He spent many years in the funeral industry, beginning as a teenager washing cars for the funeral home. He learned all aspects of this profession and enjoyed helping families who lost their loved ones. He later wanted to explore his more creative side and started a home remodeling business. He was skilled at construction and created some beautiful outdoor features, from decorated concrete to fountains. Later he decided to try his hand at managing a ranch, he learned everything about ranch management and spent 2 years with his family on a beautiful mountain in Oregon. He was always looking for a new adventure and he put his heart and soul into every new thing he tried.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters who died in infancy, Marlana and Delana. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Zohner Whitehead; two brothers, Robert Whitehead and David Whitehead and a sister, Susan Troxell; one daughter, Jourdan Danielle and three sons, Zachary Cole, Jacob Joseph, and Dallin Richard; two grandsons, David Richard, and Shepherd Dahl.
