Thelma worked hard alongside her husband raising their three children and managing a busy farm. Thelma opened her home to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, teaching them the importance of hard work and community. She delighted in sharing her many memories and life experiences. She had a love for music, anything sweet, having company and watching over all her animals. In later life she took violin and piano lessons. Thelma overcame polio as a child and the unexpected loss of her husband and youngest son, demonstrated how strong, vibrant and determined Thelma was to live her very best life. Thelma was able to travel with her oldest son Oral, which was something she greatly enjoyed and could spend hours sharing those precious memories.
Thelma was a member of Lake Alice Happy Hour Club, the Pony & Cart Club, a 4-H leader and the North Platte Valley Artist Guild. Survivors include her son Captain Oral Lee Staman and wife Lyz, grandchildren Heidi and Lee; her daughter Linda Rae Claflin and husband Chris, grandchildren Kevin, Jenni, Erik, Stephanie, Jonathan and Suzanna; grandchildren Brandon and Trevor; 13 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Merl Staman and son Troy Lee Staman. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Thelma's nurses: Callie, Katrina, Brenda and Kristen, all the Amazing members of the Hospice Care Team, her great granddaughter Bobbie, special friends Lindsey, Charlie, and Eddie, her many faithful neighbors and most dearest friend Corey.
