Anna Smith Hansen
Anna Smith Hansen was born in Holbrook on Jan. 10, 1960, to Virginia Gardner and Allan Smith, the first born of eight children. She passed away on Jan. 17, in Phoenix.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Joseph City, located at 8181 Westover Ave.
A lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Anna found her greatest joys in her eternal family and in the various church callings she held. After graduating from Joseph City High School and while she was attending Eastern Arizona College, she began dating Gale Hansen. On June 7, 1979, they were married for time and eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Together, they raised a family of six children in Joseph City while operating a small business and a farm operation. Anna took pride in her life's work of being a companion and mother and was known for her ability to find humor in every situation.
In February 1986, she sustained a traumatic brain injury, which would affect her for the rest of her life. Though it affected her body, her sense of humor, personality and ability to show love continued to shine through as she regained her strength.
Anna had a gift for blessing the lives around her with her smile and kind acts of service. She left a legacy of care that extended beyond people to the animals around her, and she found fulfillment in caring for both farm animals and family pets. Her creativity was seen in her piano playing, sewing projects, and scrapbooking pages. She was known for her ability to memorize almost anything and solve almost any puzzle. More than anything, Anna was known for her strong faith. She was happiest when able to serve the Lord and was most recently serving in one of her favorite callings in the Snowflake LDS Temple.
Anna was preceded in death by her father, and granddaughter Laynee.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gale Hansen; children, JC (MariJoe) Hansen, Steven (Jamie) Hansen, Mike (Brittany) Hansen, Alicia (Daniel) Deets, Julianne (Steven) Wood, and Jim Hansen; and 11 grandchildren which were the joy of her life. She is also survived by her mother, Virginia Gardner of Woodruff, and multiple siblings on both sides of her family, whom she cherished and who filled her life with treasured memories. She will be dearly missed by her cousins, friends, and associations. Anna touched every life for the better.
