DAVID NELSON VANDIVER

David Nelson Vandiver, age 72, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

David, son of the late Robert and May Marie (Morgan) Vandiver, was born on May 18, 1950, in Joplin. He grew up and attended school in Lakeside, MO and graduated from Carterville High School. David enlisted in the United States Navy immediately after graduation where he served his country honorably. He then returned to Joplin and became an over the road truck driver. He was previously married to Nancy Day from 1970 until 1987, to this union two sons were born, David and Robert. He was then united in marriage to Louise Wigent on August 13, 1994, in Joplin. Together they enjoyed being a driving team and traveling all over the country. David was a quick-witted, fun-loving husband, dad, and friend. He enjoyed the outdoors and everything it had to offer hunting, boating, fishing, to scuba diving, and even attaining his pilot's license. He enjoyed the harmonica and played often. David was a proud NRA member, member of the Joplin Elks Lodge #501, and a faithful member of the Park Plaza Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Vandiver, of Joplin; two sons, David Vandiver, and his wife, Kim, of Joplin, and Robert Vandiver, and his wife, Molli, of Baxter Springs; his sisters, Bobbie Vandiver, of Webb City, Pat Stinman, of Springfield, and Mary Foster, of Neosho; his brothers, Mark Vandiver, of Webb City, and Bill Vandiver, of Joplin; seven granddaughters; one great grandson; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will hold Memorial Services on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Park Plaza Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Elks Lodge #501, Christmas Basket Fund at 1802 W 26th St, Joplin, MO 64804-1514.

Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
