Mr. Atkinson was a retired ceramic tile manufacturing plant laborer in Indiana. He was born March 25, 1900, in Hymera, Ind., son of Joseph and Emma Atkinson. In 1944 he was married to Florence Rurak who died in 1957.
Mr. Atkinson served in the U. S. Army in 1918.
Survivors include a daughter, Lorelei Grosscross, Indianapolis, Ind.; five sons, Dan, Gem Street, Merrill, Carl, Joseph and Ronald, Indianapolis, and Charles, St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Ruth Harper, Detroit, Mich., Emma Whittingham, Miami, Fla., and Margaret Thorpe, Kokomo, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
