Thomas Nelson Layton, 77, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on May 20, 2023. He was born on May 19, 1946 in Greensburg, Indiana, the son of Max Edwin and Mary Maxine (Nelson) Layton. He married Lucille (Westover) Layton who survives.

Thomas received his Master's Degree from Indiana State. He sold real estate before beginning his career in Mortgage Origination.

Thomas was an avid fisherman and took many trips to Canada with his fishing buddies. After retirement, Thomas and his wife, Lucille enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. He also took painting classes after retirement. Thomas was a member of Fairfield Christian Church since 1974. He was a great supporter of his grandchildren's education.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Lucille; children, Robyn (Scott) Schmidt; grandchildren, Gavin and Chloe; sister, Marsha (Ed) West; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will take place on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 11:00 am until the start of funeral services at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902.
