Edmon Battenfield passed away in the home that he built in New Caney, Texas on November 17, 2022 at the age of 90.

Born in Maud, Bowie County, Texas to Burpee and Opal (Hendrix) Battenfield, Edmon worked with his family on farms, in sawmills, and other odd jobs in the towns of Ashdown and Wilton, Arkansas.

Edmon was in his 20s when he left Arkansas and moved to Pasadena, Texas. There he met his wife of 64 years, Nelda Watson, in 1958 and moved from Pasadena and settled in Porter, Texas where he lived until 1985. They then moved a few miles up the road to New Caney, Texas where he lived until his death.

Edmon was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and could always be found sitting out on his porch watching the birds and squirrels and telling stories. Many of his favorite stories revolved around good times he had coon hunting and at the deer lease with friends and family.
