Debra M. McIlwain, age 64, of Marion passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023 in her home.
Debra was born on November 19, 1958, in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of the late Max M. Brane and Connie (Keesey) Lane. She married John McIlwain on August 16, 1980, and he survives.
Debra was a cook for the Oak Hill School Corporation for many years retiring in 2017. She was a very active member of St. James Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed being a part of the Shekinah Singing Group, was a Vacation Bible School Teacher and helped with the church food ministry.
She is survived by her husband, John McIlwain; two sons, John "JJ" Mason McIlwain II (Stacy) of West Virginia, and Michael James McIlwain of Marion; a sister, Carla Brane of Andrews; and two grandchildren, Ava and Alexander McIlwain.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the St. James Lutheran Church, 1206 N. Miller Avenue, Marion, Indiana., with Pastor Fred Hearn officiating.
Burial was made on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
