Martha Ogle is the daughter of William Haggard "Buck" Ogle and Rachel (Ownby) Ogle. She was born in August 1844 in Sevier County, Tennessee (1900 U.S. Census, Anderson County, TN). She married John Anderson Nation 15 May 1869 in Sevier County (Sevier County Marriage Records). In 1870 they were living in District 13 of Sevier County near Martha's brother Harkless Ogle and near John's bother Doctor Starling Nation. By 1880 they were parents of six children, under the age of 10. At the time of the 1900 Census, they had moved to Anderson County, Tennessee, and they were living there with their two youngest children--Thomas W. (age 14) and Martha E. (age 12). In 1910 the family was at Oliver Springs, Anderson County. In the 1910 census John A. Nation is mis-identified as "Tom", who is their oldest son, but his age is correctly given as 59. Martha, age 64, is in the family, as is their son Walter (age 24) and a granddaughter (1910 census Anderson County, Tennessee).
Martha's husband, John Anderson Nation, died in 1914. In 1920 at the time of the U.S. Census of that year, Martha was living with her son Thomas ("Tom") in Anderson County. Tom was unmarried, but his household included six nephews and nieces ranging in age from 2 to 18 years of age, as well as Tom's mother Martha Nation, age 75. Martha died before the 1930 census, but there is no death record in the Tennessee death files. Family records indicate that she was buried with her husband John at Gibbs Cemetery in Anderson County.
