Dame Florella Sophia Angelo, born c.1758, was a notable figure in the history of Eton College, renowned for her long-standing connection with the institution. Her life spanned an impressive 89 years, during which she witnessed and contributed to significant cultural and educational developments. The daughter of Domenico Angelo, a celebrated fencing master, she was immersed in an environment that valued education and the arts from an early age. Her association with Eton College began in the late 1770s, and she became a Dame at the college, a role that involved overseeing the welfare and accommodation of the students. 

Sophia Angelo's tenure at Eton was marked by her dedication to the scholars' well-being, and she was deeply respected for her commitment to their education and upbringing. Her influence extended beyond the college walls, as she was known to have connections with the British Royal Family, particularly with the future George IV. It is believed that her relationship with the prince played a part in her appointment at Eton, reflecting the high regard in which she was held.
