Martha Louise Hunter Franklin

The family of Martha Louise Hunter Franklin is celebrating her homegoing to heaven, which took place May 12, 2023, in Montgomery, Alabama. Louise was born October 19, 1935, the beloved only child of Carl and Dehlia Hunter in Owen County, Kentucky. Louise grew up on a farm in New Liberty, Kentucky, eventually graduating from Owen County High School as Valedictorian. Her high school achievements opened the door for her to attend and earn an education degree with honors from Georgetown College. Following graduation, she accepted a job in Louisville, Kentucky, where she would soon meet Robert "Bob" Lee Franklin, Jr. After a whirlwind courtship, they married on June 13, 1958, whereby Bob whisked her off to Florence, Alabama, where he served as a Religious Education Minister.

As a wife, she supported Bob's ministry in the communities where they lived and ministered during their lifetime. Her gift of hospitality created a warm atmosphere in their home in which countless numbers of guests enjoyed her exceptional cooking. This environment set the stage for relationship-building that ultimately resulted in many people serving to advance God's kingdom.

Those who knew Louise fondly remember her love for all things relating to food, antiques, china, silverware, and traveling with Bob to various places across all fifty states and even several countries. Louise appreciated the beauty of creation, whether it be a flower garden, a vast landscape, classical music, or art.

Her family celebrates her life with the love and celebration that spring from the same hope she had in her blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. On May 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. she will be laid to rest next to her precious husband, Bob, at the Chalkville Baptist Church Cemetery in Center Point, Alabama.
