LOIS LOUISE SILVA was born Sept. 24, 1918 in Las Vegas to Nestor and Lupita Montoya Peña; and passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 1983 in the Clovis High Plains Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was 65.
Mrs. Silva moved to Fort Sumner with her family in 1923. She married Luciano Frank "Chano" Silva Feb. 7, 1937 in Fort Sumner. To this union were born two children. Lois was employed for 27 years at the De Baca General Hospital as a receptionist in the Administration Office. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lupita Peña, Nov. 14, 1982. Survivors include her husband, L. F. "Chano" Silva of the family home; two children, Bob Silva of Roswell and Dolores Drake of Fort Sumner; four brothers, Joe Peña and Tony Peña of Fort Sumner; Benny Peña and Felemon Peña of Muleshoe, TX; three sisters, Petra Peña and Viola Mares of Fort Sumner and Margaret Hernandez of Oakland, CA. Also surviving are four grandsons, Tom, Brian and Ray Drake; and Robert Silva.
Rosary services were recited Monday evening by Cristina Seña. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Nov. 8 at St. Anthony Parish with Rev. Father William Homola officiating. Burial followed at St. Anthony Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Julian Mortuary, Inc.
Pallbearers were Tom Drake, Brian Drake, Ray Drake, Gary Peña, Michael Peña and Joseph Peña. Honorary bearers were all her many friends.
