Mrs. Carey was a longtime teacher in Clinton County, retiring after 38 years. She also worked in retail locally and in Florida. A dedicated homemaker and mother, Phyllis was active in numerous community organizations including 4-H. She was a lifelong member of Fairview Friends Meeting.
A worldwide traveler, her passport was stamped throughout Europe, Egypt, China, Russia, the Americas, the Caribbean, and a favorite – Costa Rica.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Gregory Howard Carey (Tina Foster) and Amy Lynn Carey (Susan Golden); grandchildren, Reed Thomas Carey (Elizabeth) and Adam Howard Carey (Melanie); great-grandchildren, Levi Benjamin Carey, Paige Elizabeth Carey, and Wade Gregory Carey; and caretakers, Lorie Davis and Dawn Myers.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday, May 22, 2023 at Fairview Friends Meeting, 6796 Antioch Road, New Vienna, Ohio. A funeral service with Patricia Thomas officiating will begin at 1:30 PM. Burial will be in New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
