Obituary
Unidentified Newsclipping - 1896
HOBBY.--Mrs. Abigail Hobby, died in Middle Patent, New York, February 14, 1896, in her sixty-third year. In early life she became a subject of saving grace and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. Her Christian experience continued with increasing luster and usefulness to the end. Hers was a piety so deep and pure that none who knew her doubted its genuineness. There was about it no forbidding sternness. She had a genial nature upon which poured the constant sunshine of God's love. Living not unto herself, devoting her life to Christian service, loving the church, and always in her place when possible, her Christian life was a demonstration of the possibilities of divine grace in a human soul. But nowhere was that life so filled with sunshine and with devotion to Christ as in her own home, where she was a model wife and mother. Such a beautiful and Christlike life had its fitting close. A short time before her departure, she summoned her dear family and friends to her bedside and gave them her farewell message, entreating them all to meet her in heaven. Her life is a rich legacy to her family and the church, for her works do follow her. "He that believeth in Me shall never die," said the Prince of life.
