April 23, 1928 - February 12, 2023
PRICE - Our dear mother, Arvella Merrill Rigby, born April 23, 1928, to William Taylor and Jannett Seamons Merrill in Smithfield, Utah passed away peacefully February 12, 2023, in Price, Utah surrounded by loved ones.
She was the loving wife of Theron W. Rigby, whom she married on February 27, 1948. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
She was one of seven siblings. Their parents died when Arvella was 10 years old. All the children then lived with the eldest brother, Samuel, on the family farm. At an early age, during the depression, Arvella learned the value of hard work milking the cows and thinning sugar beets. By her example this trait was passed on to her children. She and Theron raised four children who were their pride and joy. No matter what the occasion, mom and dad were at each event supporting their kids.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Arvella was most appreciated for her compassionate service. This mostly involved preparation of meals at the ward house and for families in need. She was also very involved in Young Women's, Relief Society, Primary, and Cub Scouts. She never turned down any opportunity to serve. Always fun to be around and loved by everyone, she will surely be missed.
She is survived by their children, Shauna (Robert) Money of West Jordan, Steve (Patti) Rigby of Price, Debbie (Gary) Hill of Aurora CO, and Barbara Rigby of West Valley, who together provided 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Arvella is preceded in death by her husband, "Tee."
The family wants to express their sincere love and appreciation to everyone at Good Life Senior Living and Symbii Hospice, especially Rick Stockburger, Dr. Cam Williams, Alison Marrelli and Stephanie Mumford for all their loving care.
