He was a member of the Bellflower chapter of the American Legion Post 225, having served in WWI.
He married Myrtle Marjorie Smith and they had 2 sons who died in infancy and a daughter, Mildred (Mickey) Lenore Moon Olsen. They homesteaded in the Lancaster/Palmdale area following WWI, and later moved to Norwalk, Ca. Cecil worked as a painter and a decorator. He retired to Long Beach, CA, in 1943 where he resided with his mother until he passed away after a brief illness in 1946.
He was survived by his daughter Mickey (Joseph) Olsen, who eventually gave him nine grandchildren, Joe Jr.(b. 1944), Bob (b. 1946), Marilyn (b. 1950), Dan (b. 1953), Tim (b. 1954), Mary (b. 1957), Brian (b. 1959), Kathy (b. 1965) and John (b. 1968) Olsen of Downey, CA. He was also survived by his mother, Alta Moon, his brother, James Wray Moon (both of Long Beach), and nephew, James Wray Moon Jr. of Texas.
