Susan Kathleen Clark was born to Derwin and Evelyn Briggs, on December 28, 1948. She was the eldest of their three daughters who became known as the Briggs Girls. She passed from this earth on April 14, 2023, with her loving husband Bert by her side. She shared seventy-four wonderful years with us, each one filled with love and laughter.

As a child, Sundays were spent playing on her grandmother's dairy farm in Gridley. This is where Susan's love of the country life began to take root. She and Bert made their home together on the Clark Ranch in Live Oak, her favorite place in the entire world. In her own words, she loved her dirt. She was passionate about planting flowers all over the ranch and working the land alongside her husband. She loved to watch the hummingbirds buzz and the birds soar. It was her passion, and her love for Bert, that made a ranch feel like a home.

The two of them met in high school, after being set up on a blind date. Two weeks later he gave her his ring, and she never took it off. For the next fifty-seven years, hardly a day passed that they were not together. They had two sons, Robert and Timothy, and seven grandchildren: Corey, Kacey, Kevin, Kylie, Lacey Kathleen, Mary, and Matthew.

Susan was very involved with Little League when her sons were little. She danced the night away with the Live Oak Dance Club and socialized in the Live Oak Women's Club. For over thirty years, she worked with her sister Sharleen, and brother-in-law Steve in their accounting office, where she enjoyed making everyone smile. Come Christmas time, Susan made fudge for friends and family far and wide. Customers of the family business, Clark and Sons, very much looked forward to being a part of this tradition. Susan had a lifelong affection for cats, a trait passed on to her grandson Corey.

Susan is affectionately remembered for all the joy she brought to others. Everywhere she went, Susan would make new friends. She loved to talk, joke, and cared deeply about her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend.

Preceding her in death are her father; mother; and sister, Sharon Uren.

She is survived by her husband; sons; sister, Sharleen Cantrell; and her many grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She will always be with us under the shade of the old oak trees. We can hear her in the songs of her chimes on a windy day, and in the hummingbirds' buzz. We can feel her in her dirt as it slips through our fingers. We know she is with us by the smell of her fragrant flowers in the summer sun. We will carry her with us always in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family.
