A native of Reidsville, Mr. Ross was the son of Betty Johnson Ross Horton of Hurdle Mills, who survives, and the late Robert Abner Ross. His late paternal grandparents were Robert Irvin and Connie McKinney Ross and his late maternal grandparents were Hessie Loftis Barber and Weldon A. Johnson.
He was a farmer, and had attended New Hope Primitive Baptist Church.
