JACOB BERLEIN Was born near Akron, in Summit county, Ohio, March 28,1842, and died at his home in Athens, Alabama, November 2, 1915, aged 73 years, 7 months and 5 days. His parents were Samuel and Susan Berlein, and when he was a small child his parents moved to Huron county, Ohio, and in 1862 moved to Steuben county, Indiana. On January 5, 1863, he enlisted in the 129th Indiana Volunteer Infantry and was honorably discharged on the 29th day of August, 1865. In 1867 he was married to Isabelle Rinehart. To this union were born six roomed children, one dying in infancy, those surviving him being Alice Taylor, of Gibsonburg, Ohio; John, Susan, Ida, and Jay Berlein of Angola, Ind. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, five children, nine grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, an aged mother, and other relatives, Funeral services were held at the South Scott church, in Steuben county , Indiana, Thursday afternoon November 4, conducted by Elder Paul Preston.
