Butch Johnson (James R Johnson) was born October 10,1951 to Marcella L. Craighead Johnson and Louis E. Johnson, in Tuscola, Illinois.

He died peacefully at Carle hospital on May 10, 2023 at 8:30 am. His family surrounded him in love the week leading up to his passing.

He is preceded in death by both parents; his sister, Joyce Johnson Smith and his sister-in-law, Sidney Galloway Johnson. He joined his beloved nephew, 1st Sargent Robert Johnson in death by just a short 21 days.

He is survived by brothers, Leroy Johnson, Roy Johnson and Bill Johnson and sisters, Janet Johnson and Jane Johnson.

He is survived by 3 children, Michelle Hastings, Sean Johnson and Kimberly Cler. He was a loving grandfather to four surviving grandchildren, Seth Johnson, Silas Cler, Ariya Cler and Milly Cler.

He just lit up whenever they were around him. Becoming a grandfather was the best thing that ever happened to him. He loved to take the Cler kids to Monicals every week and cheer on the girls gymnastics! He was very close with Silas and just enjoyed being around him! He came from a big close family and his siblings stuck by him until the very end.
