Bob was born on January 18, 1940 in Austin, AR to John and Blanchie (Gilbert) Whitaker. He married "The Love of His Life" Lois Griffith on November 4, 1960. Together they celebrated 48 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in 2008 and they had 4 children together. On June 23, 2018, Bob married the second "The Love of His Life", Barb Coburn.
He was employed as a cutoff technician at GM Brass for 25 years before retiring. Previously he was employed at Industrial Rubber, Watervliet Paper Mill and Joy's Scrap Yard. After retirement he became a handyman of all trades where he met a lot of new friends. Bob enjoyed fishing and traveling on short trips out of town. Mostly he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Bob will be greatly missed by his family which includes his wife, Barb; his children, Lee (Denise) Whitaker of Coloma, John (Cheryl) Whitaker of Riverside and Lisa (Frank) Nykamp of Watervliet; his mother, Blanchie Whitaker; his grandchildren, Brennan Campbell, Allison (Blake) Freeling, Alecia (Zack) Spear, Sabrina (Sam) Gacnik, Jessica (Jeff) Gearhart, Travis (Sarah) Parrigin, and Erika Nykamp; his numerous great grandchildren; his siblings, Bill (Delcie) Whitaker, Freda (Johnny) Smith, Wanda (Fred) Whitaker, Lois (Lauren) Harris, Donna (Kenneth) Connor, Eula (Gary) Tarantino, Jackie Whitaker, Ramona (Jeff) Griffith; his brother-in-law Leonard (Marsha) Griffith; his numerous nephews and nieces and his cats, Tony and Corey.
He was also preceded in death by his father, by his daughter, Lora, his nephews, Billy Whitaker and Tim Williams, his niece, Debbie Griffith and his brothers-in-law, James Jarvis, Larry and Loren Griffith and sister-in-law Linda Griffith and mother and father in law Lillian and Lee Griffith."
