Lawrence Joseph Cox was born 28 Nov, 1919 in Chandler,Okla, the son of Herbert and Olga Soderstrom Cox.
He was a 1939 graduate of Chandler High School, received his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University in 1948, his master's from Kansas State University in 1960 and
a PhD from North Carolina State in Raleigh in 1969. A
resident of Fredonia, formerly of Chandler,Okla., and Hutchinson, he was a retired area extension director for
Kansas State University.
Lawrence was also did a time in the Army during World
War 2 and was a Sargent.
On 28, Nov 1941, he married Jessie Victoria Acord in
Bristow, Okla. She died 6 Oct 2000.
Survivors are one son, one daughter, two sisters, a brother, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
His funeral was held at the First Christian Church, in
Fredonia. Reverand Steve Brodeck presided. Lawrence was
laid to rest in the Oak Park Cemetary in Chandler, Oklahoma next to his wife Jessie. Timmons Funeral Home
in Fredonia was in charge of arrangements.
