Judson B. Andrews enlisted on March 4, 1862, at Roanoke, Alabama, for the war. He received a bounty for enlistment, recorded on a receipt roll dated April 23, 1864 {23 APR 1862}. He was admitted to 2 Alabama Hospital on November 19, 1862, and to Winder Division hospital on December 3, 1862. He was listed sick in hospital on Company I muster roll dated January 1, 1863.


Pvt. Andrews was captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on July 1, 1863, and was sent to Fort Delaware, Delaware, where he was received July 6. He died of smallpox on October 16, 1863, while a Prisoner of War at Fort Delaware.
