He was captured at Frankfort, Hampshire County, Virginia, on August 9, 1863. He was received at Camp Chase from Wheeling, Virginia, on August 25, 1863. He was transferred February 29, 1864, and received at Fort Delaware on March 4, 1864. He was admitted to Fort Delaware Hospital on July 17, 1864, and died of scurvy as a Prisoner of War, Fort Delaware, July 31, 1864.
