She was the seventh of 11 children born to Annie (Deckard) and William Filbeck. Her mother was a housewife, her father was a farmer.
She lived most of her growing up years in Rogersville, Missouri. She was married to John York in 1933 continuing to live in Rogersville, raising a daughter and son. They moved around several states seeking employment, finally settling in Oroville, Washington, and working in the apple industry.
They later moved to the Kennewick area in the spring of 1972. Bessie's husband, John, passed away in 1977.
Thru the years, she lost five of her sisters and four of her brothers.
She is survived by her younger sister, Pauline Creek of Ozark, Missouri; a daughter, Freda Brott and son, Marvin York.
She is also survived by three grandchildren: Ranae DeLarm, Darla Cravens and Greg Brott.
She also is survived by three great-grandchildren, Kyle Cravens, Crystal and Christina DeLarm, all from the Tri-City area.
Bessie passed from this life on June 22, 2005, at Kennewick General Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at Riverview Heights Cemetery on Friday, June 24, 2005, at 1 p.m.
