Service: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes with Pastor Bud Beverly officiating. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
Memorials: Humane Society, American Bible Society, and Braille Ministry at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Peggy was born July 20, 1932, in Tyler, the younger daughter of B.F. and Agnes G. Jones, and moved with her family to San Angelo in 1937. She graduated from SMU and married her high school sweetheart, William E. Schulkey Jr., in 1954. Fort Worth became home to the Schulkeys in 1967, where Peggy lovingly devoted her energies to their two daughters, family, friends and faith.
In all things she sought and encouraged excellence--if not with patience, with firm persistence. Always an avid reader and life-long learner, Peggy began a business career at age 40, eventually becoming an independent petroleum landman with her husband, Bill.
She enjoyed Bible study and Braille ministry, gardening, sewing, music, animals, a good laugh. But her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, with whom she spent as much time as possible, lavishing her love on each of them.
A unique, exceptional woman, Peggy inspired and blessed those who knew her and will be deeply missed in this earthly life.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Robert Keller, Dr. K. Osafo, Agape Home Care, All Star Home Health Services, Frances Gunter and Eva Montoya.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, B.F. and Agnes Jones; and sister, Betty Elaine Oquin.
Survivors: Her loving husband, William E. Schulkey Jr.; daughter and husband, Gretchen and Tilden L. Childs III, M.D.; grandsons, Tyler and Benjamin Childs; daughter and husband, Rachel and J. Michael Griffith of Springtown; granddaughter and husband, Camille and Raymond Hettinger; great-granddaughter, Lilly Hettinger of Weatherford; granddaughter, Emily Griffith and friend, Jason Lyman of Waco; brother-in-law, Marcus L.
