Jim was born March 18, 1939, in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Vernon and Dorothy Sparks Griffith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Nancy DeRenzo.
Jim proudly served his country in the United Sates Army and fought in the Vietnam War. He was third generation brick mason with Brick Layers Local #7 where he was a former officer.
He loved the outdoors. There was no better or more avid fisherman and hunter than Jim. He would often go on hikes, and he loved gardening. He was an award-winning archer as well. Above everything he loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Westwood Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed being in church. Jim had a passion to share the Word with everyone he encountered and often would go out witnessing and sharing the Gospel Message.
He is survived by his loving wife Dolores Green Griffith; sons James Griffith of Orlando, Florida and Paul Griffith of Burlington, Kentucky, Daniel Jarvis (Paula) of Richmond and David Jarvis (Scott Lacy) of Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother Robert Griffith (Diane) of Ashland; a brother-in-law Chuck DeRenzo of Georgia. Grandchildren Leah Powers, Tanner Griffith, Braydon Griffith, Blake Jarvis and Derek Jarvis; great granddaughters Bailey and Addy; his beloved dog Macy and his Cat Millie; along with several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
