Gloria Rankin, 80, of Marshalltown, formerly of Colfax, Iowa, died on the morning of May 6, 2023, at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. Celebration of life at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home.
Gloria Gale Fields was born on August 18, 1942, the daughter of Gail and Opal (Meese) Fields in Colfax, Iowa. She was one of three children. She grew up in Colfax where she attended school graduating from Colfax High School in the Class of 1960.
On June 24, 1962, she married Lonnie Rankin at the First Presbyterian Church in Colfax. Together they built their home in Colfax and raised their son Chris.
Gloria loved to find a good deal at a garage sale, spend time crafting and crocheting, and loved her furry four-legged companions she had over the years. She adored Elvis Presley and went to see him twice in concerts. She kept the home always properly decorated for any and every season often placing two Christmas trees in the home during that season.
Surviving are her son Chris (Michelle) Rankin; her grandchildren, Christopher Rankin, Caitlyn (Jordan) Hagans, and Nicholas (Rachael) Rankin; her great-grandchildren; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie; her parents, Gail and Opal Fields; her granddaughter Rachel Rankin; and her siblings, Evelyn Tedrow and Gail Fields, in infancy.
