MARY'S OBITUARY

Mary Elizabeth Sedwick, age 98, of Sheridan, Indiana, passed away on Thursday morning, May 4, 2023, at Wellbrooke of Westfield. Born July 17, 1924, near Lizton, Indiana in Hendricks County, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Leona (Fiscus) Kelley.
She was a 1942 graduate of Pinnell High School in Lebanon, Indiana, and an active member of Six Points Church in Sheridan, Indiana.
Throughout Mary's life the words "slow down" never seemed to register with her. She was constantly on the go and usually running circles around anyone who was with her. Prior to getting married, she worked for Scott's Five and Dime and Winkler's in Lebanon. On March 27, 1946, Mary married Fred Sedwick, Jr.; it was then that her family would become her number one priority. For over 25 years, Mary worked on the family farm alongside her husband and their growing family. After the death of her husband in 1972, Mary took a position with Aero Drapery in Westfield (a company she would eventually retire from... 3 separate times). Following her final (Aero) retirement, she hired on with Heartland Growers of Westfield, and later Crawdaddy's and Power Mail in Sheridan.
No matter how busy life would get, there was always time for family, and Mary took her role as a grandmother very seriously. When the grandkids were involved in an activity, so was she. When they became more involved in marching band and drum and bugle corps, so did she... cooking and serving meals, sleeping on gym floors, and being the resident grandma for the entire group was all part of the package. She cherished every moment that she was able to spend being actively involved in her family's lives and came to love all the bonus family members she picked up along the way.
As the years started to catch up, Mary's body forced her to slow down just a little bit. She was bound and determined to ignore it, telling her family that she was quite able to go back to work to help pay her expenses at Wellbrooke.

Mary is survived by:
Her Son Michael R. "Mike" Sedwick (Anita) of Sheridan, Her Daughter Janet D. Roberts of Sheridan

4 grandchildren
Raymond Roberts Susan) of Arcadia
Kimberly Crouch (Jeremy) of Wauseon, OH
Scott Sedwick (Kim) of Sheridan

and several nieces and nephews.
