Lunetta S. Carnes, 85, of New Castle, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2023 following an extended illness. She was born September 4, 1937 in Rushville, to the late Basil Doughty and Marjorie McCorkhill.

Lunetta retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle, and she was a former member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries. She loved to decorate for events, loved her dogs, and enjoyed her birds.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Raymond Carnes of New Castle; a son, Rodney Jolley of New Castle; two daughters, Tina (Leo) Lundquist of Maine, and Teresa Brown of New Castle; step children, Marlycia Sneed of New Castle and Jody Carnes of New Castle; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene McKenzie of AZ and Penny (Jeff) Montgomery of Shirley; four brothers, John (Melody) McCorkhill of VA, Jack McCorkhill of Greensburg, Terry McCorkhill of Greensburg, and Greg McCorkhill of Salem; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Jolley; great granddaughter, Madison Henderson; two sisters, Sherry Billings and Sue Warner; a brother, Larry Gene McCorkhill; a daughter-in-law and sister-in-law.

Services will be private for the family at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Senior Center, 108 S. Main St., New Castle, IN 47362.
