He graduated from Straughn High School in 1965 and attended Ozark Bible College, St. Louis Christian College, and Cincinnati Bible College.
He married Carol Ann Smith on June 9, 1973. They had two children, Shea (husband Drew) Gilliam and Sean (wife Christa) Keesling.
Alan was a loving and faithful husband and proud Father and Grandfather. He was the pastor of the New Paris Church of Christ and faithfully served his congregation for the past 24 years.
He was a charter member of the National O Scale Central Model Train Organization and a member of the National Southern Pacific Railroad Historical and Technical Society. He was also an active member of the Indiana O Scale model railroad group. He loved his trains and was a lifelong collector.
He is survived by his children, Shea of Los Angeles, California, and Sean of Memphis, Tennessee; brothers, Mark Keesling of Madison, North Carolina and Eric Keesling of New Castle, Indiana. He was Grandpa to five grandchildren, Tyler, Mackenzie, and Hailey Keesling, Naomi and Indiana Gilliam.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Keesling, his parents Roscoe Keesling and Reba Keesling, and a brother Philip Keesling.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, May 13, 2023 at New Lisbon Christian Church, 6477 E County Road 500 S, New Lisbon, IN 47366. Burial will follow at New Lisbon Cemetery.
