Ann Louise Schied was born on December 2, 1936, in Clark, South Dakota to parents Ignatius Ambrose and Edna Anna (Meyer) Howardson. She grew up in the Clark area, attending Clark schools. Ann worked in housekeeping sharing her gentle kind spirit with the residents at Violet Tschetter Nursing Home in Huron for over 30 years until her retirement. After her retirement, she volunteered for many years at the St. Francis Thrift Shop until it closed, she also volunteered in many church programs in the St. Martin and Holy Trinity Parishes.

Ann had many hobbies throughout her life including gardening, cooking with her grandchildren (with apple and cherry pies, her specialty), walking in the rain, getting McDonald's egg McMuffins' and sundaes, and spending time with her family. Her Catholic faith was a very important part of her life. She read her bible daily, always praying for her family. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bruce; her sister, Mary Jane Rist and her brother, Ambrose Howardson.
