DARRELL ARTHUR OBITUARY
Darrell Lee Arthur, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away May 2nd, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis November 1st, 1951, to parents Francis and Carol (Cooper) Arthur.
Darrell grew up in Indy and graduated from Howe High School in 1970. From there, he began his long, hardworking career as a carpenter. In 1971, he joined the Carpenter's Union Local 758, and finished his apprenticeship in 1975. He began working at Indianapolis Marion County Building Authority, then moved on to National City Bank, where be became a certified locksmith. From there, he worked as a subcontractor for Eli Lilly and several real estate firms. He excelled at his work, and loved to stay busy, but ultimately retired in 2019.
On September 28th, 1979, Darrell married the love of his life, Susan (Powers). They shared 43 wonderful years together.
In 2007, Darrell became a Catholic. He and Susan were valued members of St. Mark's Catholic Church. He was also a devoted member of Knights of Columbus, obtaining his 3rd degree knighthood.
Darrell was a very strong, loving man, who enjoyed spending time with family and socializing. He and Susan loved to travel, seeing incredible places like Rome, Hawaii, and the Dominican. He enjoyed soaking in the sunshine at tropical beaches. Darrell enjoyed golfing and spent his free time watching and attending baseball games.
He was a devoted husband, a very special "funcle" to his nieces and nephews, and loyal friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Susan Arthur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Phillip Arthur and Sally Perkins; and two nieces.
Visitation for Darrell will be at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, Monday May 8th, from 4-7pm. Additional visitation will be at St. Mark's Catholic Church from 10am-11am. His mass will begin at 11am. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
